Tell-Tales
Atell-taleisadisplaythatindicatestheactuationofadevice,acorrectordefective
condition,orafailuretofunction.
Theoperatorshouldbecomefamiliarwiththesesymbolsinordertorecognizeandreact
(ifnecessary)totheindicatedcondition.Tell-talesymbolsareshownintheinstrument
panelillustrationsonthefollowingpages.
Colors
Topromotevisualrecognitioninternationally,speciccolorsfortell-taleshavebeen
established.Unlessgovernmentalregulations(intheareawherethevehicleistobeused)or
engineeringdirectivesspecifyotherwise,thestandardcolorsare:
•Blue—high-beamheadlights/enginemaintenance
•FlashingGreen—turnsignals
•FlashingRed—hazardconditioninvolvingthesafetyofpersonnel
•SteadyGreen—systeminoperation
•SteadyRed—warning,immediateactionrequired
•Amber—earlywarning,suchaslowfuelorAnti-LockBrakeSystem(ABS)malfunction
PanelArrangement

layoutisdesignedtoprovidetheoperatorwithagoodviewofthegaugesandcontrols
(whichareplacedsotheyarewithineasyreach).Theinstrumentpanel,asshowninthe
followingdrawing,isbrokendownintoseveralmainsections.Foreasyidenticationwe
refertothemasPanelsA,B,C,D,EandF(wherenecessary).
