V-MACIVShutdownOption:IdleCooldown
Thisfeatureprovidesameansofcoolingdowntheengineandturbocharger.Iftheidle
cooldownoptionisenabledusingVCADSProMACKSupportSoftwareandthesystem
sensesthattheturbochargermaybehot,theenginewillnotshutdownwhenthevehicle
stops,theparkingbrakeissetandthekeyswitchisturnedtotheOFFposition.Thisfeature
allowsthedrivertolockthetruckandwalkawaywhilestillprovidingadequatecooldown.
Allswitchedaccessorieswillthenturnoffoncetheenginehasstopped.Ifthisoptionisset,
theenginecanbeshutdownimmediatelybycyclingthekeyswitch.
Theidlecooldowntimerissetto3.5minutesassoonastheengineloadexceeds25%,
providedthattheenginehasbeenrunningatleast60seconds.Aftertheloaddropsbelow
25%,thetimerbeginscountingdown.Ifthekeyswitchisturnedoffbeforethetimer
expires,theenginewillcontinuetorununtilthetimerreacheszero.
Ifapyrometerisinstalled,theidlecooldownfunctionwillusethepyrometerreading,
shuttingtheenginedownwhenthetemperaturedropsbelow232°C(450°F),orafter3.5
minutes,whichevercomesrst.
ThedefaultforthisoptionissetatOFFfromthefactory.
Note:Theparkingbrakemustbeonfortheidlecooldownfunctiontowork.
EngineShutdownSystem(IfEnabled)
Theengineisprotectedbyasystemthatpreventsenginedamagebyshuttingdownthe
enginewheneverapotentiallydamagingcondition(suchaslossofoilpressure,lossof
coolantorengineoverheating)isdetected.Ifthesystemdetectssuchacondition,awarning
indicatorlightandanalarmwillalertthedriverbeforetheengineactuallyshutsdown.
EngineShutdownIndicator—Duringnormaloperatingconditions,thisindicatorshould
illuminateassoonasthekeyswitchisturnedon.Aftertheengineisstarted,itwillremain
illuminateduntilengineoilpressurereachesnormalidlingrange.Duringshutdown,ifthe
systemdetectsaconditionthatcouldleadtoenginefailure,theEngineShutdownindicator
willilluminatepriortoengineshutdown.
