Cleanwithmildsoapsolutionandlukewarmwater.
DANGER
DoNOTbleachordyebelt,asthismay
causeseverelossofstrength.DoNOT
installbeltinatruckwithaweakened
ooruntiltheoorhasbeenreplacedor
reinforced.
Periodicallyinspectthefollowingareasandreplaceanyinadequateparts:
BuckleandLatchplateThebuckleandlatchplateshouldmateeasilywithasolidclick
andreleaseeasilyandquicklywithmoderatepressureonthereleasebutton.Allmetalseat
beltcomponentsshouldbefreeofsignsofdamage,corrosionorrust.
WebbingThewebbingshouldshownosignsofwear,frayingorholes,anditshouldbe
reasonablyfreeofdirtwhichcouldnditswayintotheretractingmechanism.
RetractorsTheretractorsshouldfunctionsmoothlyandmaintainanappropriateamount
oftension.Loosewebbingisanindicatorthatmaintenanceisneeded;it’slikelythata
too-loosebeltwillfailtotightenproperlywhennecessary.
SeatBeltMountingComponentsThetetheringshouldbefreeofwearanddebris;the
webbingshouldshownosignsofwear,frayingorholes;andthemetalcomponentsshould
befreeofsignsofdamage,corrosionorrust.
DANGER
Seatbeltassembliesmustbereplacedafter
anaccidentiftheyhavebeensubjectedto
loadingbyoccupants(evenifnodamageis
obvious),oriftheyhavebeendamagedby
anaccident(bentretractor,tornwebbing,
etc.).Ifthereisanyquestionregarding
beltorretractorcondition,replacethe
appropriatepart.
