14.3 Monitoring Procedure
1. Plug the pressure cable into the IBP connector on the monitor and power on the monitor.
2. Prepare the pressure line and transducer by flushing the system with normal saline solution.
Make sure the tubing and transducer system is free of air bubbles.
NOTE
z In case of any entrapped air in the pressure system, re-fill the system with
normal saline.
3. Connect the catheter to the pressure line, making sure there is no air present in the catheter
or pressure line.
4. Position the transducer so it is at the same level with the patient’s heart, approximately
mid-axillary line.
5. Verify the correct label is selected.
6. Zero the transducer.
