Va rCom D escr iption
MENCTYPE The type of encoder being used on the motor.
MENCRES
The resolut ion of the encoder, in num ber of lines per
revolution of t he m otor.
For an increm ental encoder, MENCRES × 4 equals the
num ber of encoder counts per revolution.
The CDHD m onitors all encoder signal wires, and generates an A/ B Line Break
fault (r4 on the 7-segm ent display) if any wire is broken.
Ha ll Signa ls
The CDHD support s single-ended (or open-collector) and differential Hall signals.
The following param eters are used t o configure and m onit or Hall com mutation
sensors.
Va rCom D escr iption
HALLSTYPE The type of Halls signals.
HALLS Reads the state of the Hall signals.
HALLSI NV
Inverts the polarity of individual Hall signals associated with
m ot or phases UVW.
The CDHD m onitors the state of the Hall signals, and will generate an Illegal
Halls fault ( r6 on the 7-segment display) if either state 000 or 111 is detected.
It will generate a Differential Halls Line Break fault (r3 8 ) if it fails to detect the
differential Hall signals.
N ote: Differential Hall signals can be used with Incremental A and B signals or
as Halls only using the st andard motor feedback C4 connect or. I f your
application requires differential Hall signals with incremental A, B and
index signals, contact Technical Support.
Encode r I ndex
Encoders often have an addit ional channel, referred to as a m arker channel, zero
pulse, or index channel. This channel outputs one pulse per revolution, and is
typically an extremely narrow pulse equal to about one-quarter of the width of
an A or B channel pulse, but m ay be wider. The encoder index can be used for
hom ing ( absolute position reference) and for com mut at ion alignm ent.
You can also use the com mand Find I nde x in the ServoStudio M ot or Fee dba ck
screen to determine the position of the index signal.
The following param eter is u sed t o set and monitor the encoder index.
Va rCom Descript ion
MENCZPOS The encoder index position.
The CDHD m onitors the index signal wires, and will generate an Index Line
Break fault (r 5 on the 7-segment display) if any wire is broken.
