Va rCom Description
RESBW
The resolver conversion bandwidth. High bandwidth
produces better dynamic tracking and less phase lag in high
frequencies. Lower bandwidth results in better noise
reduction. RESBW set s the most balanced value according
to specific application requirements.
N ote: The automatic tuning of the resolver reference amplitude takes about
3-5 seconds after the drive is powered on. During this time the drive
cannot be enabled.

6 .6 .1 Resolv er and Sine En coder Calibr at ion Ove rv iew
When the CDHD is initially connected to a m otor equipped with either a resolver
or a sine encoder, CDHD param eters must be calibrated. Calibration is required
during system assem bly. Since analog component values might change over
time, it is prudent to repeat the calibration procedure once every two years.
Once the calibration procedure is com pleted, the calibration parameters are
saved in the CDHD.
For the calibration, CDHD needs to read 128 sine signals either in one direction
or back and forth.
Com m only a resolver will need 128 m ot or revolutions t o generate the necessary
128 sine signals. Therefore the m otor needs to be m oved, at a limited speed, by
a m ovement command.
Sine encoders can t ypically generat e 128 sine signals well within one m otor
revolution. Therefore, the m otor m ay be m oved by hand for the calibration.
The following param eters are used t o configure and m onit or resolver/ sine
encoder calibration.
Va rCom Descr iption
SI NI NITMODE
Enables/ disables the autom atic calibration of sine encoder
or resolver sine and cosine signals at power up.
SI NI NIT
Activat es a procedure that calibrates sine encoder or
resolver sine and cosine signals. The calibrat ion serves t o
reduce Harm onic errors in the sine encoder or resolver
reading.
The procedure averages sine encoder or resolver signals
over several m otor turns to determine the gain and offset
correct ion.
SI NI NITST
Report s the st at us of the sine encoder or resolver
calibration procedure.
SI NPARAM
Returns the parameters that are used for calibrating sine
encoder or resolver sine and cosine signals. The paramet ers
are in hexadecim al representation.
6 .6 .2 M ot or Re volutions Requ ire d for Calibr at ion
If your application has limited travel, you can run the m otor back and forth
128 tim es. The length of each of these 128 movem ents must be at least 1.5 sine
