6 .5 .7 Resolv er
A resolver is a rotary transformer used to measure the m otor shaft position.
The resolver has a primary winding, and t wo secondaries – a sine and cosine in
sync with the m ot or rot ation. The level of voltage on the sine and cosine waves
correlat es to t he position of the shaft within one revolut ion.
Resolvers typically enable slower dynamic tracking than encoders.
The following param eters are used t o configure and m onit or resolver feedback.
Va rCom Description
RESAMPLRANGE
The acceptable range of resolver sine/ cosine signals,
expressed as a percentage, around their nom inal value.
MRESPOLES
The num ber of individual poles in the resolver feedback
device.
RESFI LTMODE
Defines whether feedback position interpolation is
perform ed on the resolver feedback in order t o generate a
continuous st ream of data.
