7 M ot or Setup
As of firm ware version 1.40.0, the drive attempts to detect a motor feedback
device and an electronic motor nameplate at power-up. I f detected, certain
mot or and feedback param eters are transferred directly t o the drive, and cannot
be m anipulat ed by the user.
If an electronic m otor nameplate is not detected at power-up, the Mot or screen
allows you to select a motor from the ServoStudio databases (m otor libraries).
You can sim ply select the m ot or fam ily and m otor part num ber, and ServoStudio
will prepare the appropriate m ot or and feedback param eters. The screen allows
you t o m odify and send param et ers to the drive, read param et ers from the
drive, and save parameters.
7 .1 Mot or Se t up W izard
The ServoStudio Motor Setup W izard provides the quickest and easiest
m ethod for getting the drive and mot or up and running. It configures the
essential parameters and the current control loop for a m ot or without a load.
It is recom mended that you use the Motor Setup wizar d when connecting the
host computer, drive and m otor for the first tim e.
This chapter describes the functions and parameters that are configured during
the setup and initialization of the m otor.
Disa ble the drive before m anipulat ing m otor and fe edback par am ete r s.
Many param eters can be m odified while the drive is enabled.
Exercise caution, however, as motor behavior will change.
If a param eter cannot be m odified while the drive is enabled, ServoStudio will
prom pt you to disable the drive.
St e p 0 – Connection
Typically, the wizard begins at Step 0. I f ServoSt udio is already com m unicating
with the drive, the wizard will begin at Step 1.
To connect to the drive, click Se arch & Conn ect.
Alternately, enter the port settings, and click Conne ct .
