sonarinstallation.
Preparations
Inordertomakeanoise/speedcurvefortheship,makethe
followingsettingsinthesonarmenu.
1OpentheSetupmenu.
2ClicktheT estbuttontoaccessuptheSystemTestmenu.
3ClicktheTestCongbutton.
4ObservethattheTestCongparameterdialogueopensatthe
bottompartofthemenueld.
5SelectNoise&VRtoselectthemenusettingsforthe
receivingvoltageresponse.
6ClickClose.
7OpentheHorizontalmenu,clicktheTXPowerbutton,and
switchpowero

8ObservethattheEcholevelbuttonintheSystemtestmenu
providesaread-outofthecurrentvaluemeasuredbythe
sonar.
Testprocedure
Thisnoise/speedcurvecangiveapictureoftheship’sbestsearch
speed.Observethefollowingproceduretomakethecurve.
1Startwith0knotswiththeenginerunning.
2UsethetwoTrainrightandTrainleftbuttons(arrows)onthe
OperatorPaneltoturntheaudiolinetothedifferentbearings
shownintheNoisemeasurementstable.
3Foreverynewbearing,waitatleast10secondsbeforeyou
makearead-outofthenewecholevel.
4Entertheresultsintothetable.
5Increasethespeedto2knots.
6Repeattheread-outsforthesixdifferentbearings.
7Repeattheprocedurewiththedifferentspeedsandbearings
showninthetable.
8Whenthemeasurementsarenished,makeaplotofthe
noisefor0degreesbearingintotheNoisespeedplot
diagram.
Problemswithownoise
Incaseofveryhighshipnoiselevels,theRCGfunctionwill
automaticallyregulatethereceivergaindown.Thislowergain
