considerstoringitunopenedinitsoriginalpackingmaterial.
However,itmaybeusefultoopenthecasetocheckitscontents
fordamageandretrieveanyaccompanyingdocumentation.
Donotuseaknifetoopencardboardcartons-thecontentsmay
lieclosetothesurface,andmaybedamagedbytheblade.
1Checkthecartonbeforeopeningittoensureitshowsno
signsofdropping,immersioninwaterorothermishandling.
Ifthecartonshowssignsofsuchdamage,refertothe
paragraphcoveringInspectiononreceipt.
2Placethecartononastableworkbenchorontheoorwith
thetopofthecartonuppermost.
3Intheabsenceofotherinstructions,alwaysopenthetop
ofthecartonrst.Thecontentswillnormallyhavebeen
loweredintothecartonfromabove,sothiswillusuallybe
theeasiestroutetofollow.Caremustbeusedwhenopening
thecartontoensurethecontentsarenotdamaged.D

4Ifthecartonhasbeenclosedusingstaples,removethe
staplesfromthecartonasyouopenit.Thiswillreducethe
possibilitiesofscratchinjurytoyourselfanddamagetothe
contents.
5Ifawoodencratehasbeenclosedusingscrews,always
removethemusingascrewdriver.Donotattempttoprise
thelidoffwithacrowbarorsimilar.
6Oncethecartonisopen,carefullyremoveallloosepacking
andinsulationmaterial.Checkformanualsandother
documentsthatmayhavebeenaddedtothecartonduring
packing,andputthesetooneside.Checkalsoforspecial
tools,doorkeysetc.
