Asuitablepieceofinsulatingmaterialcanbeplacedbetweenthe
batteryandtheelectricalcontactstopreventelectricaldischarge.
Thebatterycanthenremainintheunit,reducingtheriskofit
beingmisplacedduringthestorageperiod.
Caution
Unitscontaininglithiumoralkalinebatteriesmustbe
handledseparatelyandwithcare.Suchunitsare
markedaccordingly.Donotattempttorechargesuch
batteries,openthemordisposeofthembyincineration.
Refertotheapplicableproductdatasheets.
Dehumidier
Placeasuitablysizedbagofdesiccantmaterial(silicagelor
similar)intotheunittokeeptheelectroniccomponentsasdry
aspossible.
Coatings
Spraytheunitexternallywithacorrosioninhibitor(e.g.alight
oil)beforepacking.
Re-packaging
Wheneverpossible,theunitmustbestoredandtransportedin
itsoriginalpackingmaterialand/orcrate.Intheeventthatthis
materialisnotavailable,proceedasfollows:
•Smallunitsmustbeprotectedfromdampbybeingplaced
withinaplasticbagatleast0.15mmthick.Anappropriate
quantityofdesiccantmaterialshouldbeplacedinsidethisbag,
andthebagsealed.Thesealedunitmustthenbeplacedinan
appropriatecartonorcrate,andsupportedinthecontainer
byappropriateshock-absorbinginsulation(polystyrenefoam
chipsetc.).
•Largeunitsmustbeplacedinasuitablecardboardboxor
woodencrate.Theunitmustbeprotectedagainstphysical
damagebymeansofshock-absorbinginsulationmats.The
boxmustbeclearlymarkedwithitscontents,andmustbe
storedinadryanddust-freearea.
Temperatureprotection
Iftheunitmustbeprotectedagainstextremesoftemperature,
thecarton/cratemustbelinedonallwalls,baseandlidwith5
cmthickpolyurethaneorpolystyrenefoam.Theseunitswillbe
identiedasdelicateintheapplicabledocumentation.
