Cabletrays
Allpermanentlyinstalledcablesassociatedwiththesystem
mustbesupportedandprotectedalongtheirentirelengthsusing
conduitsand/orcabletrays.Theonlyexceptiontothisruleis
overthenalshortdistance(maximum.0,5meters)asthecables
runintothecabinets/unitstowhichtheyareconnected.These
shortserviceloopsaretoallowthecabinetstomoveontheir
shockmounts,andtoallowmaintenanceandrepair.
•Whereverpossible,cabletraysmustbestraight,accessibleand
placedsoastoavoidpossiblecontaminationbycondensation
anddrippingliquids(oil,etc.).Theymustbeinstalledaway
fromsourcesofheat,andmustbeprotectedagainstphysical
damage.Suitableshieldsmustbeprovidedwherecablesare
installedinthevicinityofheatsources.
•Unlessitisabsolutelyunavoidable,cablesshouldnotbe
installedacrossthevessel’sexpansionjoints.Ifthesituation
isunavoidable,aloopofcablehavingalengthproportional
tothepossibleexpansionofthejointmustbeprovided.The
minimuminternalradiusoftheloopmustbeatleasttwelve
timestheexternaldiameterofthecable.
•Whereaservicerequiresduplicatesupplylines,thecables
mustfollowseparatepathsthroughthevesselwhenever
possible.
•Signalcablesmustnotbeinstalledinthesamecabletrayor
conduitashigh-powercables.
