Unpackingelectronicand
electromechanicalunits
Electronicandelectromechanicalunitswillnormallybewrapped
inaclearplasticbag.Lifttheunit,initsbag,outofthecarton
andplaceitinastablepositionontheoor/workbench.
Inspecttheunitfordamagebeforeopeningtheplasticbag.
Note
BewareofthedangersofElectro-StaticDischarge(ESD)both
toyourselfandtotheequipment,whenhandlingelectronicunits
andcomponents.
Cablesmustneverbeusedascarryinghandlesorliftingpoints.
Donotbreakthesealtoopenacircuitboardpackagebefore
theboardistobeused.Iftheboardpackageisreturnedtothe
manufacturerwiththesealbroken,thecontentswillbeassumed
tohavebeenusedandthecustomerwillbebilledaccordingly.
Assumingalliswell,openthebagandremovetheunit.
Opentheunitandcheckinside.Removeanypackingand
desiccantmaterialthatmaybeinside.
Unpackingmechanicalunits
Mechanicalunitsmaybeheavy.Usingasuitablycertiedlifting
apparatus,lifttheunitoutofthecrateandplaceitinastable
positionontheoor/workbench.
Inspecttheunitfordamageandremoveanypackingmaterialthat
maybeinsidetheunit.
Unpackingtransducers
Transducersmaybesuppliedmountedtoahullunit(ifany),or
packedseparately.Cratesarenormallyidentiedbytheorder
numberandtheserialnumber.
Thetransducerfacemustbeprotectedbyarigid,paddedcover
(e.g.awoodenboxlinedwithfoamrubber)allthetimeitis
exposedtotheriskofphysicaldamage.
Caution
Oncetransducerisunpacked,greatcaremustbetaken
toensurethattransducerbodyandcablingisnot
exposedtoanymechanicalstress.
