Introduction
General System Description
The CoPilot 500 printing systems consist of a Controller with integrated Touchscreen user
interface and up to two Printheads that can use either Cartridge Ink or Bag Ink systems. The
CoPilot 500 printing systems are designed to print superior quality high-resolution characters on
a variety of porous surfaces.
NOTE: For the purposes of this document, unless a specific differentiation is made:
CoPilot 500” can refer to a:
o CoPilot 500 system
o CoPilot 500 Turbo system
Controller” can refer to a:
o CoPilot 500 Controller
o CoPilot 500 HiSpeed Controller
o CoPilot 500 Turbo Controller
o CoPilot 500 High Speed Turbo Controller
Printhead” can refer to a:
o CoPilot 500 Oil Printhead
o CoPilot 500 Solvent Printhead
o CoPilot 500 HiSpeed Printhead
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A
digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential
area may also cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct
the interference at his or her own expense.
Messages for the CoPilot 500 printing systems are created and edited using PC-based Orion™
software. Messages are then loaded onto the Controller through an Ethernet connection or from
a USB device. Refer to the Orion™ Software User Guide that came with the printer for
information on how to create and print messages.
The Controller sends the print messages to the Printhead. If using a Cartridge Ink system, ink
flows from the Ink Cartridge down into the Ink Reservoir and through an Ink Line to the
Printhead. If using a Bag Ink system, ink comes from an Ink Bag installed in an Ink Pan and
