Why does my Squid Ink JetStream have poor print quality with spatters?

  If the Squid Ink Printer produces poor print quality with spatters, this may be due to a blockage inside the Printhead. Clear any blockages from the Printhead. Another potential cause is that the Printhead Orifice is too far from the substrate/product, or there are strong air currents. Ensure the Printhead Nozzle is 1.2" (30 mm) or less from the passing product and eliminate any strong air currents. Also, the ink viscosity might be too high or low. Check the ink viscosity. If it is too low or high, keep the system jetting and wait until the ink viscosity comes within 10% of the viscosity set point. You may also need to adjust the modulation.

  If your Squid Ink Printer is spraying excess ink onto the product, or the printing is cut off at the top or bottom, it could be that the ink stream is missing the Ink Return Gutter. To resolve this, clear any blockages from the Printhead. Alternatively, adjust the ink stream to direct it into the Ink Return Gutter.

  If ink is leaking into or from the console, or a “Mixing Tank Overflow” warning appears on the Squid Ink Printer screen, it means the Mixing Tank is overflowing. Partially drain the Mixing Tank for about a minute and then select Start Jetting.

Why is my Squid Ink Printer printing a straight line?

  If the Squid Ink Printer prints a straight line instead of the desired message, the Printhead is likely incorrectly oriented. Turn the Printhead 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise so that the slot of the Printhead Orifice is perpendicular to the direction of product flow. The Printhead Cover Fastener should be parallel to the product flow.
