CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE: Being bumped by passing products,
normal conveyor vibrations, and similar adverse operating conditions can
negatively affect print quality and can potentially damage the Printhead.
Maintenance Access
When planning the installation, allow for easy access to the Control Panel, Ink
Compartment, Rear Compartment, side inputs, and Printhead so that setup, operation, and
maintenance can be done conveniently.
Ventilation
Ensure that the rear and right (Power Input) sides of the JetStream Console have at least 6"
(154 mm) of clearance from walls or other objects to provide proper ventilation.
Mounting
Each installation is unique. Squid Ink Manufacturing cannot anticipate customer
requirements for mounting the JetStream to the customer’s production line. Squid Ink
Manufacturing offers two mounting options: a Printhead Mount Stand and a Videojet
Printhead Mounting Bracket (see “Mounting Equipment” on page 20). Follow the instructions
for the specific mounting system ordered for your printer.
Printhead Position
The JetStream can print in any direction, including straight up, so there is almost no
limitation on Printhead orientation. However, the slot of the Printhead Orifice must be
perpendicular to the product/substrate flow to ensure proper printing.
The Printhead Orifice should be approximately 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) from the surface of the
passing substrate/product. Larger throw distances are possible, depending on font size, air
currents, and other factors, but print quality will be sacrificed. Larger throw distances also
affect printed character size and distance between dots.
