Once the conveyor speed has been brought within range of the JetStream’s maximum speed for
the chosen Raster Mode, follow one of the two procedures below, based on whether the
conveyor is fixed-speed (travels at a constant speed) or variable-speed (starts and stops).
Fixed-Speed Conveyors
1. Set up test products on the conveyor, physically spaced exactly as they would be
when actually printing.
2. Ensure that a Photocell is properly connected and in position (see “Installing a
Photocell” on page 49). The Photocell will tell the printer when a product is passing
by it.
3. With the Printhead properly positioned to print on the passing product throw
distance of 1.2" (30 mm) or less run the conveyor.
4. From the Main screen, select Settings:
5. In the upper left of the Settings screen, select Print Setting.
6. In the middle panel, select Basic:
7. Under “Trigger Mode,” select “Photocell.”
8. In the middle panel, select Photocell:
9. Under “Trigger Edge,” choose whether the leading or trailing edge of the product
should trigger printing as it passes under the Photocell.
10. Under “Initial Print Delay,” set how many milliseconds the printer should wait to print
after the Photocell is triggered.
11. Toggle between adjusting “Initial Print Delay” value under Photocell and the
“Printing Speed” (how fast the printer prints) under Basic until the printing is going
onto the product in the desired location and size. A lower “Initial Print Delay” will
result in instantaneous printing after the Photocell is triggered. If increasing “Initial
Print Delay” to its maximum setting does not provide sufficient delay time, “Delay
Multiplier” under Basic can be used to increase it further. A higher “Printing Speed”
will result in printing that is more horizontally compressed.
