Front Wheel Motor
Removal and Installation
See Figure 5-43.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Remove front wheel. (See “Front Wheels” on
page 9-11.)

• Label all hydraulic hoses and tubes before
disconnecting to ensure correct installation.
• Close all openings with caps or plugs to prevent
contamination.
• Left front wheel motor is shown. Right front wheel
motor is similar.
3. Disconnect hoses and tubes (1, 2, 3 and 4).
Record the location of fittings before removing to ensure
correct installation.
4. Remove brake port fitting (5), case drain fitting (6),
inlet port fitting (7), and outlet port fitting (8).
5. Support front wheel motor (9) and remove six
mounting screws (10) and washers (11).
6. Remove front wheel motor (9).
Installation Notes
• Install front wheel motor by reversing the order of
removal.
• Tighten front wheel motor mounting screws (9) to
90 lb-ft (122 N·m).
• Tighten brake port fitting (5) to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).
• Tighten case drain fitting (6) to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).
• Tighten inlet and outlet port fittings (7 and 8) to
90 lb-ft (122 N·m).
• Tighten brake tube to 17 lb-ft (23 N·m).
• Torque case drain tube to 33 lb-ft (44 N·m).
• Tighten inlet tube (3) and outlet hose (4) to 48 lb-ft
(65 N·m).
• Pressure filter traction system upon start-up if metal
debris is found in system oil or motor. (See “Portable
In-Line Filter” on page 5-5.)
• Check hydraulic oil level. Add oil as needed. (Refer to
“Parts and Maintenance Manual” for correct oil
specifications.)
7. Start engine. Check hydraulic system for leaks.
Repair as necessary.
