Installation Notes
• Clean the inside and outside of filter base (8).
• Lightly lubricate cartridge gasket with clean oil.
• Install new fuel pre-filter and fuel filter cartridge by
reversing the order of removal.
• Purge air from the fuel system after installing the new
filter. (See “Purging the Fuel System” on page 3-5.)
Fuel Pump
Removal and Installation
See Figure 3-13.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Allow engine to cool completely.
3. Raise the hood.
4. Disconnect battery negative (–) cable at battery.

5. Place a suitable container under fuel pump (4) to
catch fuel that will flow from fuel hoses.
6. Loosen hose clamps (1) and disconnect hoses (2
and 3) from fuel pump (7).
7. Remove two screws (4), lock washers (5) and flat
washers (6).
8. Remove fuel pump (7).
Installation Note
Install fuel pump by reversing the order of removal.
Remote Oil Filter
Removal and Installation
See Figures 3-14
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Allow engine to cool completely.
3. Raise the hood.

• Label all hoses before removing to ensure correct
installation.
4. Disconnect filter inlet hose (1) and outlet hose (2).
5. Remove oil filter cartridge (3).
6. Remove two screws (4), lock washers (5) and flat
washers (6).
7. Remove filter head (7).
Installation Note

• Lightly lubricate oil filter cartridge gasket with clean
oil.
• Install remote oil filter by reversing the order of
removal.
Dispose of fuel properly. Contact the local
environmental department for instructions on
disposing of unwanted fuel products.
Diesel fuel is combustible—handle with care. Use
an approved container with a spout that will fit
inside the fuel filler neck. Avoid using
unapproved containers to transport fuel. Keep all
fuel containers clean and closed when not in use.
