Down Pressure Adjustment
See Figure 8-8.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
Figure 8-8
2. Raise reels and place rod cross pin (3) in the fourth
hole from ball joint (4).
3. Lower reels onto a flat surface.
4. Loosen lock nut (5) and turn rod (6) in or out of ball
joint (4) to achieve an initial distance (1) of 8.94 ±
0.062 in. (227 ± 2 mm) between the center of the ball
joint and the center of the rod cross pin. Set distance
(1) for each reel.
5. Measure spring length (2) on all reels. Record the
shortest spring length and set the other springs to
that length ± 0.062 in. (2 mm) by adjusting rod (6).
Ensure rod cross pin (3) is horizontal and tighten lock
nut (5).
6. To adjust down pressure, move rod cross pin (3) one
hole toward spring to increase pressure, or one hole
away from spring to decrease pressure on rear roller.
Grass Shield Adjustment
See Figure 8-9.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
Figure 8-9
2. Loosen nut (1) on each end of grass shield (2) and
adjust grass shield as close to reel blades as
possible without making contact.
3. Tighten nut (1) on each end of grass shield.
To prevent personal injury and damage to the
cutting edges, handle the reel with extreme care.
