Troubleshooting
Glow Plug Circuit
Symptom: Glow plugs do not get hot.
Start Circuit
Symptom: Starter motor solenoid does not engage.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty 40-amp fuse (F2). Test 40-amp fuse (F2). (See “Fuse Test” on page 4-53.)
Faulty power circuit. Check continuity between 40-amp fuse (F2) and glow plug relay (K2) terminal 30.
Continuity must be indicated.
Faulty glow plug relay (K2) coil circuit. Check continuity between the MCU terminal 5-08 and glow plug relay (K2) terminal 86.
Continuity must be indicated.
Open glow plug relay ground circuit. Check continuity between glow plug relay (K2) terminal 85 and ground. Continuity must
be indicated.
Faulty glow plug relay output circuit. Check continuity between glow plug relay (K2) terminal 87 and glow plug strip. Continuity
must be indicated.
Faulty glow plug relay. Test glow plug relay. (See “Relays Test” on page 4-53.)
Faulty connection at glow plug terminal
strip.
Clean and tighten ring terminal connector.
Faulty MCU Replace MCU
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty 30-amp fuse (F9). Test 30-amp fuse (F9). (See “Fuse Test” on page 4-53.)
Faulty 15-amp fuse (F4). Test 15-amp fuse (F4). (See “Fuse Test” on page 4-53.)
Parking brake switch (SW4) is in the OFF
position.
Place the parking brake switch (SW4) in the ON position.
Mow switch (SW2) is in the ON position. Place the mow switch (SW2) in the OFF position.
Traction pedal not in neutral position Return traction pedal to Neutral position. Remove foot from traction pedal
Faulty relay power circuit Check continuity between 30-amp fuse (F9) and starter relay (K3) terminal 30. Continuity
must be indicated.
Faulty starter relay (K2) coil circuit. Check continuity between the MCU terminal 1-06 and starter relay (K3) terminal 86.
Continuity must be indicated.
Open starter relay ground circuit. Check continuity between starter relay (K3) terminal 85 and ground. Continuity must be
indicated.
Faulty starter relay output circuit. Check continuity between starter relay (K3) terminal 87 and starter S terminal Continuity
must be indicated.
Faulty starter relay. Test starter relay. (See “Relays Test” on page 4-53.)
Faulty parking brake switch (SW5). Test parking brake switch (SW5). (See “Parking Brake Switch Test” on page 4-56.)
Faulty mow Switch (SW2). Test mow switch (SW2). (See “Mow Switch Test” on page 4-55.)
Faulty neutral switch (SW7) Test neutral switch (SW7). (See “Proximity Switches Test” on page 4-57.)
Faulty key switch power circuit. Check continuity between 15-amp fuse (F4) and ignition switch (SW1) terminal 1.
Continuity must be indicated.
Faulty key switch start signal circuit Check continuity between ignition switch (SW1) terminal 2 and MCU (U1) terminal 4-07
Faulty key switch. Test key switch (SW1). (See “Key Switch Test” on page 4-54.)
Faulty starter. Replace starter (M1).
