Lift/Steering Relief Valve Adjustment
See Figure 6-45.
WARNING
NOTE
This adjustment should be done in conjunction with
lift/steering relief valve pressure test.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Perform lift/steering relief valve pressure test. (See
“Lift/Steering Relief Valve Pressure Test” on
page 6-42.)
3. Remove steering column. (See “Steering Column” on
page 7-8.)

4. Remove plastic plug (1).
5. Using 8 mm Allen wrench (2), adjust lift/steering relief
valve:
Turning adjusting screw (3) clockwise increases
pressure.
Turning adjusting screw (3) counterclockwise
decreases pressure.
6. Place steering unit and steering column in place and
check lift/steering relief pressure. (See “Lift/Steering
Relief Valve Pressure Test” on page 6-42.)
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 as required to achieve
lift/steering relief pressure of 2030-2100 psi
(140-145 bar).
Could relief valve be adjusted to achieve
2030-2100 psi (140-145 bar)?
YES Lift/steering relief valve is good. Proceed to
step 8.
NO Repair or replace lift/steering relief valve.
See “Steering Unit” on page 7-11, then
proceed to step 8.
8. Insert plastic plug.
9. Install steering unit and steering column.
10. Disconnect and remove test equipment. Install all
hoses and fittings as noted prior to removal.
11. Install and connect all components as noted prior to
test.
12. Check hydraulic oil level. Add oil as necessary. (Refer
to “Parts and Maintenance Manual” for correct oil
specifications.)
13. Start engine. Check hydraulic system for leaks.
Repair as necessary.
The hydraulic system is under pressure, and the
oil will be hot.
Always relieve pressure in the hydraulic
system before performing service.
Failure to follow appropriate safety
precautions may result in death or serious
injury.
Required Tools and Materials
Pressure Gauge 4000 psi (276 bar)
Test Hose 4000 psi (276 bar)
Tee Fitting
8 mm Allen Wrench
