Lift Cylinders
Removal and Installation
See Figure 6-63.
1. Lower cutting units.
2. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)

• Label all hydraulic hoses before disconnecting to
ensure correct installation.
• The rear lift cylinders have an one-way orifice fitting
installed between the hose and the cylinder rod end
fitting. Note the location of the orifice and recover the
orifice when removing the hydraulic hoses.
• Close all openings with caps or plugs to prevent
contamination.
3. Disconnect hydraulic hoses (3).
4. Support lift cylinder (1).
5. Remove cotter pins (2 and 4).
6. Remove cylinder pin (5), washers (6) and spacers
(7).
7. Remove lift cylinder (1).
8. Front Lift Cylinders: Remove two fittings (8).
Rear Lift Cylinders: Remove two fittings (9),
one-way orifice plate (10) and one-way orifice fitting
(11).
Installation Notes
• Install lift cylinder by reversing the order of removal.
• Make sure new O-rings are in place before installing
hoses on fittings.
• Tighten one way orifice fittings (11) to 17 lb-ft (23
N·m).
• Tighten straight fittings (8) or 90° fittings (9) to 25 lb-ft
(34 N·m).
• Tighten lift cylinder hoses (3) to 17 lb-ft (23 N·m).
• Use new cotter pins (2 and 4).
• Refill hydraulic tank. (Refer to “Safety, Operation, and
Maintenance Manual” for oil specifications.)
• Start engine. Check hydraulic system for leaks.
Repair as necessary.
• Check hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Care must be taken to avoid damaging the
surface of the cylinder rod during removal and
installation.
