Rear Roller Bearings
Removal
See Figure 8-35.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Remove rear roller. (See “Rear Roller” on
page 8-37.)

3. Support one end of roller tube (1), and use a suitable
hammer to drive out seal (2) and bearing (3) out of
roller tube by tapping opposite end of shaft (4).
4. Repeat step 3 for other end of roller.
Installation
• Clean and inspect bearings for wear or damage.
Replace if necessary.
• Pack bearings (3) with grease that meets or exceeds
NLGI Grade 2 LB specifications prior to installation.
• Apply grease that meets or exceeds NLGI Grade 2
LB specifications to the lips of seals (2) prior to
installation.
1. Using a suitable press, install one bearing (3) onto
end of roller shaft (4) until it contacts the shoulder on
the roller shaft.
2. Carefully install roller shaft into roller tube.
3. Using a suitable press, install new seal (2) with the lip
facing the inside.
4. Using a suitable press, install one bearing (3) onto
the other end of roller shaft (4).
5. Using a suitable press, install new seal (2) with the lip
facing the inside.
