DEFINING WLAN
This section contains information for configuring WLANs. A Wireless
Local Area Network (WLAN) is a technology that provides network
services using radio waves. WLAN provides wireless network service
connections to all users within a defined service area. WLAN users are
connected to the network via the access points. Access Points act as
communication hubs for wireless networks. In additional, access points
provide both encryption and bridging between 802.11 and ethernet
points. Access points also extend the physical size of wireless networks.
When several access points are grouped, they allow network users to
roam.
