25. Once the thyroid count is complete, position the probe over the patient's thigh and select
<Count Patient Bkg>. The system instructs the user to position the probe to count the
patient’s background. The distance bar and a red LED light can be flipped out from the rim
into the center of the collimator face to help align the thyroid position. Remember to flip
the LED back to the retracted position and move the distance bar to the bottom of the
collimator out of the field before counting. Select <Accept> to continue.
WARNING: You must use the same geometry for counting the sample/capsule or lab
background as used for counting the thyroid and / patient background. The system
calculation assumes the same geometry when comparing counts to counts. You must
also ensure that the collimator is at a right angle to the patient’s thigh so that it is
positioned correctly for counting to retain the correct geometry. Make sure the distance
bar and positioning light are not in the counting field.
comptage.
26. The system begins counting the patient's background. When counting is complete, the
message "Counting Complete" is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Select <Next>.
27. The Thyroid Uptake Results are now displayed.
NOTE: If you are not satisfied with the results for the uptake study data set, select the item
you wish to recount and recount the thyroid or patient background before saving.
28. If satisfied with the results select <Save>. The Thyroid Uptake Results screen is now
displayed. Select <Save> again to save the dataset or select <Cancel> to return to the
Thyroid Uptake screen without saving the results.
NOTE: If you are doing multiple counts (datasets) after saving tell the patient when to
return for the next dataset to be counted.
29. Repeat steps 20 through 28 to count additional datasets.
NOTE: You can print the Uptake Report from the Study Selection screen by highlighting the
desired study and selecting <Reports>. This will display the report. Select the <Printer>
icon to print.
