34. When satisfied with the results select <Save>. The Thyroid Uptake Results screen is now
displayed. Select <Save> again to save the dataset or select <Cancel> to return without
saving.
NOTE: If you are performing multiple counts (datasets) after saving tell the patient when to
return for the next dataset to be counted.
35. Repeat steps 20 through 34 to count additional datasets.
Thyroid Uptake With Multiplier
The thyroid uptake with a multiplier is used when a therapeutic dose is going to be given to a
patient. The therapeutic dose rate is too high to count with the uptake probe. To perform this
test, a standard is counted that is a fraction of the dose given to the patient. Before starting the
study, both the standard and the therapeutic dose must be counted in a dose calibrator. The
two activities are entered in the Activity Measurement screen. The system calculates what
multiplier to use to compare the standard and the therapeutic dose. The net standard CPM is
multiplied times the multiplier for the therapeutic dose rate that will be decay corrected as part
of the uptake calculation.
Perform A Thyroid Uptake With Multiplier:
1. Select <Testing> from the Atomlab 960 Home Page. The Testing Menu is now displayed.
2. Select <Thyroid Uptake>. The Select or Add A Patient screen is now displayed.
3. Add a patient for which the thyroid study will be performed.
4. Select <Accept>. The Add Study Selection screen is now displayed. This screen displays the
patient name and uptake study procedures from which to choose. Highlight the procedure
you have created that uses the therapeutic dose multiplier and then select <Accept>.
NOTE: Procedures must be added in the Procedures section of the Utilities program.
CAUTION: The Thyroid Uptake screen is now displayed. Confirm that you have the
correct patient displayed before proceeding.
ATTENTION: L'écran prise thyroïde est maintenant affiché. Confirmez que vous avez le
patient correct affiché avant de continuer.
