FINAL DRIVE TRANSMISSION (CHAINCASE)
Checking And Adding Oil
See your SERVICE SCHEDULE for the correct interval to
chec
k the final drive transmission oil level. (See
SERVICE SCHEDULE on Page 106.)
The chaincase contains the final drive sprockets and
cha
ins and uses the same type of oil as the hydraulic /
hydrostatic system. (See Hydraulic / Hydrostatic Fluid
Chart on Page 141.)
Stop the loader on a level surface and stop the engine.

Remove the check plug (Item 1) [Figure 249] from the
front of the chaincase housing. (Lift arms shown raised
f
or visual clarity.)
If oil can be reached with the tip of your finger through the
hole
, the oil level is correct.
If the level is low, add oil through the check plug hole until
t
he oil flows from the hole. Install and tighten the plug.
WARNING
AVOID INJURY OR DEATH
Always clean up spilled fuel or oil. Keep heat, flames,
sparks or lighted tobacco away from fuel and oil.
Failure to use care around combustibles can cause
explosion or fire.

Removing And Replacing Oil
For the correct service interval (See SERVICE
SCHEDULE on Page 106.)

Remove the check plug (Item 1) [Figure 250] from the
front of the chaincase housing.

Pump the oil out of the chaincase [Figure 251]. Recycle
or dispose of the used oil in an environmentally safe
ma
nner.
Add oil through the check plug hole until the oil flows from
t
he hole. (See Capacities on Page 200.) Install and
tighten the plug.
