5.6 DC Power Supply Commands
This section describes the syntax and parameters of all the commands for the DC Power
Supply.
5.6.1 Common Command Syntax
‘Commonand ‘Querycommands are defined by the IEEE488.2 standard. Common
commands begin with an “*” and consist of three letters and/or one “?” (query). Common
commands and queries are listed alphabetically below.
*CLS Clear Status
Type: Device status
Description: The *CLS command does the following:
1. Clears Error Codes
2. Resets Error Messages.
3. If “*CLS” is followed by <nl>, the “output queue” and MAV bit will be
cleared as well.
Syntax: *CLS
Parameter: None
*ESE Standard Event Status Enable
Type: Device status
Description: This command sets the condition of the Standard Event Status Enable
register, which determines which events of the Standard Event Status
Event register (see *ESR?) are allowed to set the ESB (Event Summary
Bit) of the Status Byte register. A "1"
in the bit position enables the
corresponding event. All the enabled events of the Standard Event Status
Event register are
logically ORed to cause the ESB (bit 5) of the Status
Byte
register to be set.
Syntax: *ESE <NRf>
Parameter: 0 to 255
Example: *ESE 48 This command enables the CME and EXE events
of the Standard Event Status Event register.
Query Syntax: *ESE?
Return Parameter: <NR1>
Query Example: *ESE? This query returns the current settings of the Standard
Event Status Enable register.
*ESR? Standard Event Status Register
Type: Device status
Description: This query reads the Standard Event Status register and clears it.
Query Syntax: *ESR?
Return Parameter: <NR1>
Query Example: *ESR? This query returns the current settings of the Standard
Event Status register.
Return Example: 48
