7-31. Energy Option Calibration
The Energy option is not adjustable. The performance of the option depends on the
accuracy of the internal crystal oscillator. This may be measured and verified in two ways:
7-32. Using Direct Measurement with a Frequency
Meter
Equipm
ent required: a frequency meter with accuracy 2.5 ppm or better at the frequency
to be measured.
1. Connect the frequency meter to the Energy Pulse Out
connector.
2. Use the Channel Configuration options (see “Preparing to Use the Energy Option”)
to set a
meter constant for the Pulse Output that will r
esult in a known output
frequency
for the total system power. The Use Internal Pull-up check box should
be
enabled (checked) for m
ost frequency meters. For exampl
e, Enable and set the 6100B
Voltage and Current to Sine 10 V rm
s and 1 A rms,
phase angle zero, providing 10 W
rm
s of real power. Set the Output meter constant to 360,000 i/Wh to give an out
put
frequency
of 1
kHz.
3. Short Current
Output terminals together, and ensure nothing is
connected to the
Voltage Output term
inals. Select Free Run test mode,
then press OPER.
4. Verify
that the frequency meter reads the expected frequency ±(10 ppm - frequency
meter accuracy in ppm)
.
5. Ter
minate the test by pressing
.
