D.6.1.8 White Balance
The white balance function is the most important function for consistent image quality.
This is especially important in the type of open scanning environment present with
overhead book scanners.
During the white balance measurement, all internal and external light sources are
combined and illuminate the target. The measurement results in a correction function for
the scan area.

Place the test target on the book cradle as shown. The test target must overlap the upper
and the lower margins of the book cradle plate.
Click on Next Step to start the measurement. The measurement takes approximately
one minute and the results will be displayed in the next screen.

If the measurement result is displayed in green, the values are fine. Results in red text
show errors. Some explanatory remarks will follow.
