Understanding the Control Panel
When you turn on ( | ) the System Power Switch, it activates CUSA EXcel
system components. This section presents the control panel features in the
order in which you will encounter them as you set up, test, and use the
CUSA EXcel system.
When you turn on ( | ) the System Power Switch, the CUSA EXcel system
checks for the footswitch and the handpiece connections.
Footswitch Alert
If the system does not find the footswitch connection, it illuminates the
red Footswitch alert and turns off the Wait light. If this occurs, check to
make sure you have connected the footswitch to the console rear panel. If
not, connect it. The Footswitch alert will turn off and the Wait light will
turn on.
Handpiece Alert
When turned on ( | ), if the system does not find the handpiece
connection, it illuminates the red Handpiece alert and turns off the Wait
light. If this occurs, check to make sure you have connected the handpiece
to the console. If not, connect it. The Handpiece alert will turn off and the
Wait light will turn on.
Note: When turned off ( ), the system automatically drains the cooling
water from the handpiece and the cooling water system. While draining
cooling water, the system also illuminates the Wait light and Cooling
Water indicator. Do not disconnect the handpiece while the system is
draining cooling water. If you do, the system illuminates the red
Handpiece alert, gives an audible signal (four short tones), and turns off
the Wait light. If this happens, reconnect the handpiece to the console:
