Ensure that the polarity of the DC input wiring is correct. Under certain conditions,
connections with reversed polarity might trip the primary circuit breaker or damage
the equipment.
For personal safety, connect the green-and-yellow wire to safety (earth) ground at
both the Junos Pulse Gateway and the supply side of the DC wiring.
The marked input voltage of –48 VDC for a DC-powered Junos Pulse Gateway is the
nominal voltage associated with the battery circuit, and any higher voltages are only
to be associated with float voltages for the charging function.
Because the Junos Pulse Gateway is a positive ground system, you must connect the
positive lead to the terminal labeled RETURN, the negative lead to the terminal labeled
–48V, and the earth ground to the chassis grounding points.
DC Power Disconnection Warning
WARNING: Before performing any operations, ensure that power is removed
from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is off, locate the circuit breaker
on the panel board that services the DC circuit, switch the circuit breaker to
the OFF position, and tape the switch handle of the circuit breaker in the OFF
position.
DC Power Grounding Requirements and Warning
An insulated grounding conductor that is identical in size to the grounded and ungrounded
branch circuit supply conductors, but is identifiable by a green and yellow stripe wire, is
installed as part of the branch circuit that supplies the unit. The grounding conductor is
a separately derived system at the supply transformer or motor generator set.
WARNING: When installing the Junos Pulse Gateway, the ground connection
must always be made first and disconnected last.
DC Power Wiring Sequence Warning
WARNING: Wire the DC power supply using the appropriate lugs. When
connecting power, the proper wiring sequence is ground to ground, +RTN to
+RTN, then –48 V to –48 V. When disconnecting power, the proper wiring
sequence is –48 V to –48 V, +RTN to +RTN, then ground to ground. Note
that the ground wire should always be connected first and disconnected last.
DC Power Wiring Terminations Warning
WARNING: When stranded wiring is required, use approved wiring
terminations, such as closed-loop or spade-type with upturned lugs. These
