Measurement Range
Measurement Range
The following ranging modes are available for performing measurement.
• FIXED (fixed range)
The channel uses the specified range only.
• AUTO (auto range)
The channel automatically uses the range which provides the best resolution
for the measurement value. The auto range operation is performed as shown
below.
1. Measurement is performed by using the maximum range.
2. If the measured value is < 9.5 % of the range value, the channel changes
the range down and performs measurement again.
3. Repeats the step 2.
4. If the measured value is > 105 % of the range value, the channel changes
the range up and performs measurement again.
5. Ends the measurement.
The auto-range operation coverage (maximum range and minimum range) can
be specified. This reduces the number of range change operations and makes
the measurement effective.
For the charge measurement (B2985B/B2987B), the auto-range operation
coverage can be set to one of the following values.
HIGH: 200 nC - 2 C
LOW: 2 nC - 20 nC
After the mode is changed from AUTO to FIXED
The instrument keeps the last used range. And the RANGE function key shows its
value.
