Standby switch Turns the instrument on or off. During the power is on, the LED below the switch
turns green. For the B2983B/B2987B, the LED turns orange during the switch is
off and the battery charging is in progress.
Single Starts a single (one shot) measurement or initiates trigger system. Also triggers
the staircase sweep output or square waveform output of B2985B/B2987B. If a
repeat measurement is in progress, it stops it and starts a single measurement.
The measurement result is displayed on the Meter view, Graph view, Histogram
view, or Roll view.
Once a single measurement starts, the data buffer is cleared and stores the last
single measurement result (maximum 100000 data). It can be listed and displayed
on the Measure Result dialog box.
If measurement is not performed properly, check the trigger setting. The trigger
type must be set to AUTO, or the trigger count (Count) must be set properly. See
“Trigger Setup Sub-panel” on page 157.
Run/Stop Starts a repeat (continuous) measurement. If a repeat measurement is in progress,
this stops it. The measurement result is displayed on the Meter view, Histogram
view, or Roll view.
Once a repeat measurement starts, the data buffer is cleared and stores the last
repeat measurement result (maximum 1000 data). It can be listed and displayed
on the Measure Result dialog box.
The repeat measurement is performed with the following trigger setup. Settings of
“Trigger Setup Sub-panel” are ignored.
• Acquire trigger (measurement trigger): Initiate
• ARM acquire count: Infinite
• ARM acquire source: AUTO (automatic internal)
• TRIGger acquire count (Measure Count): 100
• TRIGger acquire source (Measure Trigger): AUTO (automatic internal)
