Function Details
Voltage Source (B2985B/B2987B)
Table 5-2 Output-Off State
This setting is not applied to the output-off process triggered by the emergency
condition such as the interlock open and over temperature protection. In these
situations, the output voltage is immediately set to 0 V and the output switch is
set to off.
Current Limiting Resistor
The voltage source has internal 20 M current limiting resistor at the output end.
Connecting it in series can limit the output current. For example, if the voltage
source forces 100 V, this resistor limits maximum 5 A output current.
You can control the connection of this resistor using the Resistive Limit State field.
See “Output Connection Dialog Box” on page 173.
Triggered Voltage Source
During the voltage source applies a constant voltage, if a trigger signal is
received, it changes the output to the pre-specified value. The value is specified by
the Triggered Voltage Source field. See “Range Setup Sub-panel” on page 151.
Name Conditions after output-off
HIGH Z,

impedance
• Output relay: off (open)
• The voltage source setting is not changed.
• This status is available only when the 20 V range is used.
NORMAL
• Output voltage: 0 V
• Output relay: off (open)
ZERO
• Output voltage: 0 V in the present voltage range
