TheanalogPersistencefeaturedisplaysyourwaveformandrevealsitsanomalies
forarepetitivesignal.UsePersistencetoaccumulateonscreenpointsfrommany
acquisitionstoseeyoursignalchangeovertime.Theinstrumentpersistencemodes
showthemostfrequentsignalpaththreedimensionallyinintensitiesofthesame
color,orgra
dedinaspectrumofcolors.
Saturation Level
WhenyouselectAnalog modefromthePersistencedialog,each
channelisassignedasinglecolor.Asapersistencedatamapdevelops,
differentintensitiesofthatcolorareassignedtotherangebetweena
minimumandamaximumpopulation.Themaximumpopulation
automaticallygetsthehighestintensity,theminimumpopulationgets
thelowestintensity,andinter
mediatepopulationsgetintensitiesin
betweentheseextremes.

Colormodepersistence,selectedbytouchingColor,worksonthe
sameprincipleastheAnalogpersistencefeature,butinsteadusesthe
entirecolorspectrumtomapsignalintensity:violetforminimum
population,redformaximumpopulation.Asaturationlevelof100%
spreadstheintensityvariationacrosstheentiredistribution.Atlower
saturationlevels,theintensitysaturates(b
ecomesthebrightestcolor)
atthepercentagevaluespecified.Loweringthispercentagecausesthe
pixelstobesaturatedatalowerpopulation,andmakesvisiblethose
rarelyhitpixelsnotseenathigherpercentages.
3-Dimensional Persistence
Byselecting3d,youcancreateatopographicalviewofyourwaveform
fromaselectionofshadings,textures,andhues.Theadvantageofthe
topographicalviewisthatareasofhighestandlowestintensityare
shownaspeaksandvalleys,inadditiontocolororbrightness.The
shapeofthepeaks(p
ointedorflat)canrevealfurtherinformation
aboutthefrequencyofoccurrencesinyourwaveform.
TheinstrumentalsogivesyoutheabilitytoturntheXandYaxesofthe
waveformthrough180°ofrotationfrom‐90°to+90°.
