DialogBoxes
Thelowerportionofthescreencontainsdialogswhereinformationisshown,
selectionsaremade,anddataisinput.Typically,thedialogsareorganizedinto
tabulardisplays,subtabs,orpop‐updialogs.Thedialogareaiscontrolledbytouch
screenbuttonsandfrontpanelbuttons.

MessageBar
Themessagebarcontinuallydisplaysthetimeanddate.Italsodisplaysoscilloscope
statusanderrormessages.
ALTERNATIVEACCESSMETHODS
Thefrontpanelanddisplaycontrolsprovidethemostcommonwaystoaccessyour
oscilloscope’scapability.However,theinstrumentoftengivesyoumorethanone
waytoaccessdialogsandtomakechanges.
TopMenuBar
IfyouprefertodrivetheoscilloscopewiththefamiliarityofWindows,youmight
prefertoaccessdialogsfromthemenubaratthetopofthedisplay.Thisopens
dialogboxesatthebottomofthescreen,whereadjustmentscanbemade.
Thedialogareaoccupiesthebottomone‐thirdofth
edisplay.Expandthesignal
displayareabyminimizingeachdialogbytouchingtheClosetabattherightofthe
dialogbox.
Insomelimitedcases,themenubaristheonlywaytoaccesscertainfunctionality,
butgenerallyspeaking,themostcommonoscilloscopefunctionalitycanbe
controlledfromthefro
ntpanel.
MouseandKeyboardOperation
Intheprocedures,wefocusontouch‐screenoperation.Butifyouhaveamouse
connectedtotheinstrument,youcanclickonobjectsinsteadoftouchingthem.
Likewise,ifyouhaveakeyboardconnected,youcanuseittoenterdatainsteadof
usingthevirtualkeyboardprovidedbythein
strument.

Connectasignaltoachannel(we’llassumeyouconnectedtochannel1inthis
exampleandthatthechannelwasnotalreadyON).
Pressthechannel1buttononthefrontpaneltoturnonchannel1.Thebutton
lightsandthedescriptorlabelforthatchannelareshown.
