5.3.3 Colostrum (X-pert system)
In case a cow has recently calved, this information can be
entered into the X-pert system by means of menu option "Daily
> Quick Entry". Press F4 to enter the submenu and choose
menu option "Calving" (figure 5.7). You are then asked to input
some relevant data about the calving. Subsequently press F2 to
save the entries. The data is transmitted to the VCPC (Cattle
Code Process Controller) as soon as you press the Esc-key.
The cow is now registered in the X-pert programme as calved.
As a result the milk will be automatically separated during the
time which was adjusted in menu option "Animal > Calendar
parameters" of the X-pert system.
• Save all the entries with F2 and transmit them to the VCPC by pressing the Esc-key. Check
the correctness of the data by retrieving the Alarm list with the help of menu option "Milking >
Lely ASTRONAUT > Shift F6". The list also includes the cows whose milk is separated and
the three teated cows. Only applies to animals which were milked with the robot within the last
three days.
• In case a teat is treated with antibiotics and the menu option "not to be milked" has been
selected, the milk still has to be separated as there can be a misconnection.
5.3.4 Other milk separations (X-pert system)
If a cow has been treated for a disease, the milk should be
separated for at least three days (see medicine instructions).
After this several options can be made for separation of the milk
coming from the treated quarter.
• The first possibility is to separate all the milk until the
antibiotics have worn off.
• Do not milk the teat any longer.
• If there is still some milk present, separate the milk or milk
out under supervision.
• Ok, if there is not any milk present.
By means of menu option "Milking > Measurement"
(figure 5.8) you can indicate the cow whose milk should be
separated.
You should indicate the date or number of milkings that the milk
is to be separated. These are the same procedures as for the
colostrum section. Also indicate if the cow should be milked
under supervision and which teat is not allowed to be milked.
