2.2 START-UP OF ASTRONAUT MILKING ROBOT
Engage the power supply for the start-up of the milking robot. If the milking robot was shut down by means of the
STOP-button, this button must be turned off first after which the RESET-button must be pressed.
After the power supply has been engaged, a self-test is run. This test can be monitored with the control panel of
the multiple function control box. The self-test involves the following:
DISPLAY LAMP TEST (all lamp segments on)
LAMP TEST (all 4 lamps on)
RAM TEST (RAM OK indication)
ROM TEST (ROM OK indication)
WATCHDOG TEST (OK indication).
At the end of the self-test, the display flashes CALBRATE. Calibration values are then retrieved from the VCPC
(Cattle Code Process Controller). As soon as the calibration values have been received, the display passes to rest
status.
If CALBRATE has not disappeared from the screen after a maximum of 2 minutes, this indicates that no
communication was established with the VCPC without retrieving any data.
As soon as a cow enters the box (first teat cup already connected), the display automatically passes to milking
mode. The display passes to rest status again, if no cow entered the box within a preset period. When the display
passes from rest status to milking mode, the display and lamps are tested and COW? is displayed.
2.3 MILKING
As soon as a cow enters the box, the transmitter-receiver registers the data. If the transmitter-receiver recognises
the cow, the data is transmitted from the VCPC to the ASTRONAUT milking robot (provided that the cow meets
the conditions for being milked).
After receiving the cow data, COW #### is flashed on the display. If the teat cups are connected and the milking
has started, the milk yield is displayed on the screen as soon as the milk quantity in the milk receiving jar exceeds
2,5 kg (5.5 lb.).
If the milk flow of a quarter decreases too much, the corresponding teat cup will be removed. As soon as all teat
cups have been removed, the milk tubes will be emptied and the total yield determined. This information is then
transmitted to the VCPC, after which the message COW? will flash on the display.
While the front gate is opened, milking data is transmitted to the central memory VCPC. Subsequently, COW? is
flashed on the display.
The next cow is admitted and the procedure repeats itself.
If a new cow does not enter the box within a pre-programmed period, the display goes off (rest status).
