1.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The entire system is monitored, controlled and recorded by the central memory VCPC (Cattle Code Process
Controller) and the T4C
1
/NEDAP X-pert management system.
Each cow is recognized from the responder that is located in the cows collar. After the cow has entered the box,
the robot checks if the cow is eligible for milking. If so, the robot arm moves underneath the cow after which a
special teat cleaning system is activated for cleaning and stimulation of the teats. Then the teats are connected.
The teat cups are removed individually as soon as each quarter has finished milking.
Before the robot arm swings back from underneath the cow, the teats are sprayed and the cow is released from
the milking box. In case of a failed connection, the teat is not sprayed allowing the cow to return to the milking
robot immediately.
The milking cycle is performed fully automatically, as soon as the cow has entered the box and has been identified
through the responder. Immediately after the cow has left the box, the robot is ready for the next one.
After each milking session, the LELYWASH cleaning system (optional) makes sure that the teat cups are cleaned
allowing each milking to start with clean teat cups. In addition, the teat cleaning brushes are rinsed and cleaned
during each milking session.
After every tenth milking (depending upon the settings) the milking system is rinsed all the way up to the milk filter.
Depending on the adjustment, the entire milking system up to the milk tank is cleaned at least three times a day.
Before and during milking operation, a number of details are registered in order to ensure optimum management
and operation of the robot. Teat position, milk yield, conductivity, milk colour, milking times and so on are
determined with the integrated T4C
1
/NEDAP X-pert herd management programme.
1) T4C = Time for Cows (where fitted)
