• Check if the increased cell count is due to seasonal influences: does the herd include many older cows or
cows that have reached the end of lactation, or does this problem occur at the end of a (hot) summer?
• Check if the ventilation within the cow housing is sufficient. It is a fact that cows need more fresh air in case
of an increased production.
• Check if the cow housing meets the hygienic conditions. The cubicles should be dry, clean and provide
enough space. Check if correct straw or sawdust is used in the cubicles.
• Check if the cleaning of the cleaning brushes is sufficient in order to prevent infection
• Check if the cows are completely milked out. Due to the presence of flies, for example, the cow may kick off
the teat cups. As a result, the system will consider the cow milked too soon.
• Check if spraying is carried out properly and if the correct spray agent is used.
NOTE
• If there is still no progress, immediately warn your Lely service technician.
If there are any problems with the cell count (exceeding 250,000), we recommend to dry off the cows with the
highest cell count by means of antibiotics.
7.2 LIGHTNING STRIKE ARRESTER
A lightning strike arrester is fitted to the multiple function control box. This protects the robot from excessive
voltage. In case of an excessive voltage or a lightning stroke, an alarm is generated.
• Always warn your Lely service technician in such an event.
• The robot will function as usual, but is no longer protected from excessive voltage.
7.3 SERVICE BACKUP
The technician will attempt to find a solution by telephone first. It is therefore important that you are able to provide
a detailed description of the nature of the failure. Always mention special circumstances, for instance, if the robot
was out of operation due to service operations or emptying of the tank, an electricity cut, etc.
If a visit of the service technician is required, make sure that the following items are at hand to ensure optimum
hygiene for all parties:
• Hot and cold water near the robot or in the tank area
•Soap
• Towel
• Brush for cleaning shoes
• Industrial clothing (if available), and/or disinfectant trough for shoes.
