MACKRoadStabilityAdvantage(IfEquipped)
TheMACKRoadStabilityAdvantage(RSA)isbasedontheBendix®ABS-6Advanced
withESP®(ElectronicStabilityProgram)System.TheRSAsystemaidstheoperator
inmaintainingcontrolofthevehicleintheeventofajackknifeorrolloversituationby
applyingselectbrakesandreducingenginepowerasrequiredbythespecicsituation.The
RSAsystem,whichisintegralwiththeanti-lockbrakesystem,usesthestandardABS
components(suchaswheelspeedsensorsandmodulatorvalves)alongwithaSteering
AngleSensor(SAS-60™)andaYawRate/LateralAccelerationSensor(Y AS-60™)package
toprovideinformationconcerningvehiclemovementtotheAdvancedEC-60™Electronic
ControlUnit.
Inmostcases,vehiclerepairswillnotaffectfunctionoftheMACKRSAsystem.However,
thefollowingrepairsrequirerecalibrationoftheSAS-60™sensoraftertherepairhasbeen
made:
•RemovalandreinstallationorreplacementoftheSAS-60™sensor
CAUTION
InstallationofanaftermarketsteeringwheelmaydamagetheSAS-60™sensor.It
isthereforerecommendedthattheOEMsteeringwheelNOTbereplacedwithan
aftermarketwheel.
•Anyrepairstothesteeringsystemorfrontsuspensionsuchas:
•Replacementoffrontsprings
•Replacementofkingpinsorbushings
•Replacementofthesteeringgear
•Replacementofthedraglink,crosssteeringtubeorballsockets
•Replacementofthefrontspringhangers
•Replacementofthesteeringcolumn
•Frontendalignment
•Disconnectingthesteeringcolumnfromthesteeringgear,orthesteeringlinkage
fromthesteeringgear
WARNING
Failuretorecalibratethesteeringanglesensorafterperforminganyoftherepairs
mentionedabove,mayaffectproperfunctionoftheRSAsystem,resultinginalossof
vehiclecontrolduetosysteminterventionatinappropriatetimes.
