Alterationstothevehicle,suchaschangestothewheelbase(eitherlengtheningor
shortening),theadditionofanauxiliaryliftaxleorremovalofafactory-installedauxiliary
liftaxle,ormajorbodychanges,suchasconversionofatractortoatruckoranaxle,
suspensionorsteeringsystemcomponentmodication,areNOTallowed,asthesechanges
willadverselyaffectperformanceoftheroadstabilitysystem.Shouldsuchchangesbe
unavoidable,thesystemmustbedisabledbyhavingaqualiedtechnicianreplacethe
AdvancedEC-60™ECUwithaPremiumEC-60™ECU.
WARNING
FailuretodisabletheRSAsystemonavehiclethathasbeenmodiedwillresultinserious
vehiclebrakingandperformanceissues,includingunnecessarysysteminterventions.
Theseinterventionscouldleadtoalossofvehiclecontrol.
Inadditiontodisablingthesystem,anycablabels,suchaswarningandcautionlabels
relatingtotheBendix®ABS-6AdvancedwithESP®systemlocatedonthesunvisor
mustberemoved,andnotationsmustbemadetotheoperator’smanualssothatthevehicle
operatorhasaclearunderstandingastowhichABSoptionsareinstalledonthevehicle.
Locationoftheyawrate/lateralaccelerationsensormustnotbealtered.Whenservicing
isrequired,thesensorsmustbereplacedwithidenticalcomponentsusingtheoriginal
equipmentmountingbracketsandtighteningtorquespecications(20N.m[15lb-ft]).
ThefollowingadditionalchangesMUSTNOTbemadetoan"as-built"vehicle:
•Changestomaximumsteeringangle(totheleftorright)
•Changestosteeraxleand/ordriveaxletrackwidth
•Changingthefrontand/orrearbrakedrumstodrumshavingadifferentangethickness
