WhenhandlingDEFsolution,itisimportanttopreventcontactwithelectricalconnections.
ThereisariskthattheDEFwillcauseoxidationthatcannotberemoved.Wateror
compressedairdonothelp,sinceDEFquicklyoxidizescertainmetal.Ifadisconnected
connectorcomesintocontactwiththeDEFsolutionitmustbereplacedimmediatelyto
preventtheDEFsolutionfromcreepingfurtherintothecopperwiring.
CAUTION
Whendetachinghosesandcomponents,
donotspillDEFondisconnectedor
unsealedconnectors.IfDEFisspilledon
adisconnectedorunsealedconnector,the
connectormustbereplacedimmediately.
ThingstoknowaboutspilledDieselExhaustFluid(DEF)
Ifureasolutioncomesintocontactwiththeskin:rinsewithplentyofwaterandremove
contaminatedclothing.
Ifureasolutioncomesintocontactwiththeeyes:rinseforseveralminutesandcallfor
medicalhelpifnecessary.
Ifinhaled:breathefreshairandcallformedicalhelpifnecessary.
DonotallowtheDEFsolutiontocomeintocontactwithotherchemicals.
TheDEFsolutionisnotammable.IftheDEFsolutionisexposedtohightemperatures,it
breaksdownintoammoniaandcarbondioxide.
TheDEFsolutionishighlycorrosivetocertainmetals,includingcopperandbrass.
IftheDEFsolutionisspilledontothevehicle,wipeofftheexcessandrinsewithwater.
SpilledDEFsolutioncanformconcentratedwhitecrystalsonthevehicle.Rinseoffthese
crystalswithwater.
Note:DonotushDEFspillageintothenormaldrainsystem.
