Duringtheregenerationprocess,thetemperatureoftheexhaustgaseswillbeelevated.
DONOTparkorstopforanextendedperiodunderlowhangingoverheadammable
objectssuchastrees,awnings,structures,etc.,thatcouldbedamagedbyelevated
exhausttemperatures.Further,ifthevehicleisbeingoperatedinanareawhere
ammablevaporsexist,theregenerationprocessmustbeinterrupted.Failuretoheed
thesecautionsmayresultinreorexplosioncausingseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Note:Donotinitiateaparkedregenerationifthevehicleisinalocationthatmaybe
hazardous(i.e.,incloseproximitytoammablematerialsorgases),
Ifaparkedregenerationisstoppedbythevehicleoperator,itshouldbeinitiatedatalater
timewhenthevehicleisinasafelocation.However,ifaparkedregenerationisstopped
toomanytimes,thevehiclemustbetakentoaMACKservicefacility.Theservicefacility
willuseaservicetooltomanuallyinitiatetheregeneration.
WARNING
Theexhaustgasleavingthesystemcanreach500–625°C(932–1157°F).Various
factors(includingambienttemperatureanddurationoftheregenerationprocess)
determinewhenthesecomponentswillreturntonormaloperatingtemperatureafter
regenerationhascompleted.Beextremelycarefularoundthesehotcomponents.
Contactwiththesecomponentscanresultinseriouspersonalinjury.
CAUTION
Whentheinhibitpositionispressed,theswitchwillremaininalockedposition.Itis
important,therefore,toimmediatelysettheswitchbacktotheneutralpositionwhensafe
todoso.Failuretosettheswitchbacktotheneutralpositionmayresultinanengine
derate,cloggeddieselparticulatelterordamagetothelter .
