4.9.2 Replace the Feed Clutch

Tools:

• Allen Key: 3mm
• Pliers: Long Nose, Side Cutters.
Before you start:
• Remove the top RH side cover from the MFC (See Section 4.2.5).
Step Action Information
1 Remove the separation air supply
hose.
• Disconnect the hose from the air
manifold (see Figure 4.137).
2 Disconnect the feed clutch power
cable
from PL4 on the feed bin
control PCB.
3 Remove the clutch plate and
support bush.
• Remove the two screws that
attach the clutch plate to the feed
bin.
• Remove the washers and earth
tab.
4 Remove the stainless steel split
pin.
Press the legs of the split pin
together
, and then pull it out of the
shaft with a pair of side cutters.
5 Remove the clutch from the clutch
shaf
t.
6 Install the replacement clutch.
When you assemble the feed clutch mechanism make sure that:
• the clutch is put on the dowels on the drive gear
• you use a new stainless steel split pin
• the pin has a small amount of end-to-end play
• the anti-rotation pin is inserted into the lug on the clutch body before you tighten
the clutch plate screws.
