GPS Setup
Restart GPS
Thissoft key enables re-acquisition of a GPS position fix.
Note: Under normal circumstances RESTART GPS is not required.
D-GPS Set Up
The D-GPS SET UP function provides the ability to set up an external
DifferentialGPS, eitherautomatically(default) orbymanuallyretuningitto
a differentdifferential beacon.
In AUTO mode, the D-GPS is set to automatic and beacon selection is made
automatically by the beacon receiver. The beaconfrequency and bit rate
receivedfrom the beacon receiverare displayed. The soft keys are disabled
and grayed out.
InMANualmode,youcanselectthebeaconfrequencyandbitratethataresent
to thebeacon receiver.
When you select D-GPS SETUP a pop-up window, providingthe following
parameters, is displayed with associated soft keys:
• BeaconID - This shows the BeaconIDof the beacontransmitter.Ifnobea-
con has been found thisitem statesNOT LOCKED.
• BeaconFrequency- Boththemenuitemandassociatedsoftkeysshowthe
currently used differentialbeacon’s frequency in kHz. The frequency
range available is 283.5kHz to 325.0kHz.
• Bit Rate - Both the menu item and associatedsoft keys show the currently
used differentialbeacon’s bit rate in bps. The rates available are50bps,
100bpsand 200bps.
• SignalStrength and Signal to Noise Ratio - Theseitems indicatethe
receivedsignal strength and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) in dB, received
from the beacon receiver. If the displayunit is using RTCM data received
via NMEA, this information is not available and the item shows dashes,
one percharacter. The receivedSignal Strength and SNR are interrelated.
SNR providesa measure of thequalityof the received signaland is depen-
dentupon signal strength.
• DifferentialAge - Thisindicatesthetimeelapsedsincethe lastdifferential
beaconcorrection update.
➤ To tunea differential SeaTalk GPS to another beacon:
1. Press D-GPS SETUP, the DifferentialGPS Setup pop-up is displayed.
2. Press MODE AUTO MAN to toggle betweenAUTO and MAN modes; the
selected mode is highlighted is indicated in the pop-up window.
