2.4 Radar Display Control Functions
This sectiondescribeshow to use the radarcontrols to:
• Use the zoom functionto enlarge a selected area.
• Offsetthe center of the radar display.
• Momentarily hide the ship’s heading marker (SHM).
Using the Zoom Function
If you wish to see a section of the radar picture in more detail, you canuse the
Zoomfunctiontomagnifytheselectedareatotwiceitssize.Theenlargedarea
isdisplayedin aquarter-screenZoomWindowin thelower rightcornerofthe
screen. A boxin theoriginalradar pictureindicatesthe enlargedarea;you can
movethis usingthe context-sensitive cursor, changingtheimage inthe Zoom
Window.
Note:If the area you wish to enlarge is in the quarter of the screen that will be
covered by the Zoom Window, you should offset the centre (see the next sec-
tion) to move the area to another part of the screen before selecting Zoom
mode.
Note:You cannotuse Zoom andWindowsat the sametime: if youturn oneon,
the other is turned off automatically, and restored when the first is turned off
again.
➤ To enlarge an area:
1. Press the DISPLAY key. The soft keys are updated.
2. Press the ZOOM soft key to togglethe Zoom functionON.
The labelsare cleared,and the cursor has controlof the zoom box that
indicates the area to be enlarged.This is indicated by the lettersZMB in
inverse video, and the four-headedcursor symbol. The zoom box defaults
to its last-used position since power-on.
3. Use the trackpadto move the zoom box to the required area, and press
ENTER.
The selectedarea is shown in an enlarged format in the quarter-screen
Zoom window. The original radar pictureoccupiesthe rest of the screen.
