Introduction
Chapter 2: Getting Started & Adjusting the
Display
2.1 Introduction
This chapter providesinformation and instructionsto get you started using
your display. It will help you to become familiar with the display and the
functionsof the controls before you start using the unit. More detailed
information on operatingthe radar display is providedin Chapter 3 and
Chapter 4. Chartplotteroperating detailsare given in Chapter 5 and
Chapter 6.
Conventions Used
Throughoutthis handbook, the dedicated(labelled)keys are shown in bold
capitals; for example, MENU.The soft key functions, menu namesand
optionsare shown in normal capitals; for example, SCREEN.
Operatingprocedures,which may consist of a single key-press or a sequence
of numberedsteps, are indicatedby a symbol in the margin.
Whentheprocedurerequiresyou topressa softkey,thesoftkeyiconisshown
in the margin.
Simulator
The displayunit includesa simulatorfunction, that allows you to practice
operating your radar or Chartplotter without data from the scanner or GPS
system. You will need to use the set up options to switch thedisplay to
simulatormode, as described in Section 2.2. You can use it in either of two
ways:
Beforethe displayunit has been installedon your vessel.In this case,you
only needto connect thedisplay to a 12V or 24V DC power supply, con-
necting the red corefrom the power lead to positive (+) and the black core
to negative(-).See Chapter 8 forfulldetails.
Afterthe displayhasbeen installedon your vessel,but while in the marina
or at anchor.
The followingsection,Section 2.2, includes instructions to view simulated
radarand chart images.
